- After the treatment the tooth can be sensitive to the cold and warm. This is the natural consequence of the treatment. (If intense pain occurs please, contact your dentist.
- The temporary shell can break down to greater forces.
- The surface of the temporary shells may be rougher than the own teeth.
- After the treatment the gum can be sensitive as well as the injection site.
After the sticking:
- The tooth can be sensitive to the cold and warm a couple of weeks.
- Sometimes, 1-1 area blocks the perfect occlusion
- Adhesive material remains on the surface.
Complications:
- The temporary shells can fall of to the influence of smaller and larger external forces (teeth’ clashing, biting, gnashing)
- The dental pulp becomes inflamed due to the treatment, the teeth must be root canal treating
- In very rare cases the bonded shell can fall off. The reason may be the teeth gnashing at night or the incorrect biting
Transmission
The bonding of the shells takes place one week later. The shells usually affix under anesthesia.
Adaptation and habituation to the shells
- With bonding the shells new material and mostly new form placed into the mouth. Both the lips and the tongue have to get used to the new circumstances. During the habituation time we can feel the teeth smaller or greater.
- The lips’ muscle tone has to adapt to the new teeth. During laughing and speaking the upper and lower lips moving on the tooth surface can be unusual.
- Up to a few days, or a week the changed airflow during speaking and phonation cab be unusual.
- After the bonding cold and warm sensitivity may occur. This passes within a few days, sometimes within a few weeks.
Home care, grooming
The right grooming and care of the teeth is essential. The regular usage of proper toothbrush, tooth paste and dental floss is required. The cleaning of the teeth happens according to the oral hygienist’s advice and guidance (oral hygiene’s consultancy).
