Home teeth whitening

Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels allow you to whiten your teeth at your convenience—in a safe, effective, and customized way.

Safe

Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are only available from our dentist, who will supervise your treatment from initial consultation through completion. The sticky, viscous gel won’t migrate to gums, and most formulations include Potassium Fluoride (PF), which helps to improve oral health by strengthening enamel, decreasing sensitivity, and offering increased cavity prevention.

Effective

Powerful, prescription-strength Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are available with 10%, 10%PF, 15%PF, 20%PF, and 35%PF carbamide peroxide. Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels can provide results after just one night, though expect to see results in about a week.

Customized

Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are delivered via customized bleaching tray. Our dentist will create this tray from an alginate impression of your mouth; this customization is part of why Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are so effective. You can further customize your Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gel experience by choosing from the five formulations and three flavors (mint, melon and regular).

Advantages

In addition to Opalescence PF’s proven ability to prevent caries, improve enamel strength, and reduce sensitivity, the product has important features that make using it easier and safer. Opalescence PF’s high-viscosity, sticky gel prevents it from leaching out of the tray, as other bleaching gels do. This allows patients to experience more predictable, faster results—noticeable in days, rather than weeks. Opalescence PF stays active for 8 to 10 hours in the mouth during overnight whitening. To ensure more predictable and rapid results, we recommend that custom trays be fabricated according to the instructions provided with the kit. The tray that gives the best results is the Sof- Tray 0.035” because of its thin, soft, and comfortable material. Proper tray design also allows for less peroxide to be swallowed during tray loading and reduces chronic, long-term exposure to peroxide. A shade guide card helps patients follow the progress of their whitening treatment.

Bleaching Precautions:

    1. Do not use household bleach to whiten teeth.
    2. Pregnant women should not bleach.
    3. Keep gel out of heat/sunlight. Do not freeze.
    4. Tooth fillings and crowns do not respond to tooth bleaching.
    5. Foods and juices high in acid may cause sensitivity.
    6. If you have any questions regarding the appropriate use of this product, please consult your dentist as soon as possible.
    7. Do not use tobacco products or eat while bleaching.

General Precautions:

    1. Teeth are naturally darker along the gum line. These areas may require more time to lighten than the rest of the tooth surface and usually remain slightly darker.
    2. A small percentage of patients experience sensitivity with bleaching. Should this occur, remove the tray and contact your dentist.
    3. Foods and juices high in citric acid can cause sensitivity to the teeth.
    4. Some patients have noticed temporary discomfort of the gums, lips, throat, or tongue. Should any of these symptoms persist more than two days or progressively worse, call your dentist. These side effects will usually subside within 1-3 days after treatment is discontinued.
    5. Coffee, tobacco, and other products can retain your teeth over time. Should this occur, the teeth can be re-whitened within a few nights with Opalescence.
    6. Regular dental checkups and cleanings are important before and after bleaching to maintain a healthy smile.
    7. If you have any questions pertaining to this treatment, please ask your dentist
    8. Some old amalgamor “silver” fillings may leave a dark purple color in your bleaching tray; this is normal.
    9. Store bleach out of the sun and heat.
    10. Discard any unused bleaching gel after treatment is completed.
    11. Keep Opalescence out of reach of small children.
    12. Do not swallow gel or rinses. Product contains peroxide and may contain fluoride; swallowing large amounts can be harmful.
