Echo of Tihany
Tihany – Veszprém - Herend
During the trip we can visit the symbol of Tihany peninsula the Benedictine Abbey which was founded by the first Hungarian king I. Andrew in 1055. The magnificent Baroque main altar, the tomb of I. Andrew.
We take a walk on the Echo hill, visit the Calvary and we can admire the nicely restored farmhouses, too.
Then we take a short walk in the untouched preserved Baroque castle area of Veszprém, which still retains the 18th century city atmosphere. We eat in a quaint restaurant. Only a few people know that the world’s largest porcelain manufactory which employs almost 900 people works in Herend. The today’s modern visitor center was built in the end of 1900s. The visit consists of two parts: the visit of the manufactory and an exhibition about the porcelain history. At the end of the visit if you want, you can paint an aquarelle, or make porcelain rose. After a short coffee break we go home.
