The Hungarian Conquest
National Historical Memorial Park of Ópusztaszer – Szeged
The Memorial Park was established in honor of the Hungarian Conquest in 1970s. The huge park consists of several sights in which the most important is the Feszty Panorama. The 120 m long picture shows the crossing of Verecke. In addition to the impressive sight the voice of horses’ migration and the sound of battle bring to mind the Hungarian Conquest atmosphere of historic event which was more than 110 years ago. Then a 19th century Hungarian town imaginary promenades’ daily life are revealed us with their captivating realism. The attractions of park also include the presentation museum about the greatest Hungarian kings, the monument of Árpád, the yurt-shaped buildings and the open-air museum.
We end the visit with a tavern lunch.
In Szeged we walk in the Europa Nostra prized downtown. We visit the Cathedral, the Cathedral Square, the most famous Secession building the Reök Palace, and the Hungary’s second largest, the most beautiful synagogue.
