Pécs has plenteous supply also in the case of gastronomy. Thanks to the submediterranean climate of our city a plenty of fruits ripen in the region, such as the fig, grape, from the second one smooth wines are also made.
The Mecsek-Mountain is also famous from its mushrooms, almond trees, and sweet chestnuts. The region is really multicultural, therefore not only its culture is colorful, but its gastronomy is also diversified.

Villány is also called the city of wine, because it has unique makings to wine cultural. Hungary’s premium category wines are born in this wine country of South Baranya. Villány is moderately warm and wet climate city. The viticulture goes back to millennial tradition. According to the legend after the Conquest valiant Bor and its folk settled down here. Attached to his name the further development of wine culture, furthermore the wine got its name after him. The Blauportugieser grape which was brought by the first settlers, this grape can’t find anywhere else. From this grape a unique red wine is produced.
In the region due to the lot of fruits many people deal with wine and fire water making. Thanks to the closeness of Danube and Drava the consumption of fish dishes became tradition in time. Usually catfish, pike, carp, and bream are the most famous dishes in the riverbank public houses.
