Preparing for surgery- 3D CT planning

What we have to look before and after surgery? What are the risks for implantation surgery?

Things to do before the surgery:

  • Make sure that you inform your doctor about all your disease and previously used drugs.
  • Before the surgery eat as always, do not come with fasting.
  • Bring a friend with you and after the surgery do not drive car.
  • Take your regular pills and drugs as always.

Things to do after the surgery:

  • In the next few hours after the surgery, do not drive your car.
  • Put a cold compress on the operated half of your face to reduce the swallow.
  • Do not eat until the analgesic lasts.
  • Pay an increased attention on your oral hygiene: wash your teeth and rinse with Chlorhexidin as it is prescribed.
  • Take your recommended pills and drugs.
  • You can take painkiller if it is needed.

What kind of risks can be of the implant surgeries?

During the implant surgeries we use local anesthesia. This can have complications as any other anesthesia. Of course, with proper conditions these can be avoided. During the surgery it can happen that the areas nearby will be hurt, (sinus opening, nerve injury). But the careful planning and the good operating technique can minimalize these risks. The rejection of the implant can happen rare, just in extreme cases. The chance for this is really small in the case of good oral hygiene and regular control.
