By planning the restoration we have to take into consideration:
- the location of tooth
- soundness of the crow part
- your personal characteristics, needs
Restoration possibilities:
- direct restoration
- indirect retoration
Direct restorations: filling which can be completed at one occasion after preparing the cavity. The dental materials used to these fillings are: amalgam, glass ionomers, compomers and compositional filling materials.
Indirect restorations: generally they take two or more occasions to prepare them. The inlay, the onlay, the ceramic veneer, the crown, the bridge and the removable partial dentures belong to this group. The indirect restorations can be produced from dental gold, different metal alloys, ceramics, compositional material or the combination of these materials. At the first occasion -after the thorough and cautious examination- the dentist prepares the teeth and takes the print (it may happen that already the preparation of the teeth requires more occasions). The print will be handed over to a dental technician who prepares the tooth. The next occasion the dentist modifies the tooth if necessary and then inserts it into the mouth.
