The position of the dental root
To understand what is it the root canal treatment and why need to implement, it is necessary to clarify a few basic concepts. The teeth have 3 parts:
- crown, which is the part of a tooth in the mouth
- the dental neck is the section between the crown and the root where the crown retracts, this is the part where the enamel gets thinner and the tooth can easily become sensitive to the cold if the dental neck becomes free.

- When there is accidental or pathological perforation of root surface.
- When there is persistent excessive exudates that can not be controlled prior to root canal filling.
- In cases of re-treatment of root canal treated tooth when a foreign body such as fragment of gutta-percha lies in the peri-apical tissues of radiolucent teeth.
- When an acute dental infection in previously treated or filled pulp less teeth has occurred.
- When the root apex has fractured and pulp has died.
- When internal and external root resorbtion is extensive
When may be necessary the root canal treatment?
- If the decay is so deep that the root canal also becomes infected, at this time the dental pulp acutely inflamed, indicates cold sensitivity, or slowly dies without larger symptom, or just as uncertain pain indicates the tooth, later more heat sensitive
- If the tooth gets strong hit.
- If accidentally during crown preparation the channel opens.
- If break down from the crown’s part and hurts the channel.
Why should carry out the root canal treatment, and why can’t stay without it?
During inflammation the bacteria start to break down the tissues in the canal. In this case accumulate such decomposition products, which e.g. want to expand in warm, but they can’t in limited space and they cause sensitivity, or the inflammation might gain access on the opening of the root apex’s end to the tissue around the dental root; at this time the tooth hurts if we bite. It is absolutely necessary the complete cleaning of the canals (from the tissue debris, from inflammatory products, from bacteria and all kinds of infected tissue) and their hermetically closing.
