Its placement avail a short time, its fixing happens with clasp of appropriate size and shape. The rubber-dam doesn’t interfere you in swallowing, doesn’t cause you discomfort. Its absolute indication areas are the toot canal treatment, root filling. If the crown has a large deficit that it isn’t suitable for supporting the clasp, the root canal treatment is not possible. In this case we always suggest crown extension surgery.
The crown extension surgery is a routine procedure in which we remove a small amount of bone tissue under local anesthesia. Thus the adhesion of the gum will be down (in the case of upper teeth, it will be up). Therefore the visible length of crown will be larger, which will be suitable for the clasp placement, and for the root canal treatment, so the tooth can be saved.
